“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.”
― Maya Angelou
I absolutely love capturing Motherhood.
Be it in utero in a maternity shoot, a newborn shoot or a Grandmother surrounded by her legacy.
In all its stages in all its glory.
As a Mom of 4 children, I am there to capture those raw moments of Motherhood. It is not always about that perfectly curated shot - Sometimes it's that shot in between where the side eye comes out! The bit of devilment-the rogue who has been warned to behave. Bribed with the promise of a treat! The little glance caught at a hundredth of a second frozen is the moment and the real story.
My Mother wore a canon camera regularly around her neck. I was 8 when she died but we have albums and biscuit tins full of photographs which have filled in the gaps missing from my memory. Maybe this was where my love of photography was born. It is certainly where the knowledge of the value of a photograph comes from. When you know you know.
I grew up knowing.
Do you know the value of a family portrait session?
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is now.
